Update on the Covid-19 booster programme

As you will be aware, the government have recommended offering covid-19 booster vaccines to 40-50 year olds as well as those patients already eligible in cohorts 1-9.

The four practices in our primary care network feel that due to the ever increasing demand for appointments, and the upsurge that we can usually expect during the winter months, we are unable to support any further extension of the booster programme.

We have, therefore, made the decision to withdraw from offering this service.

We will continue to offer booster vaccines to patients in cohorts 1-9 (i.e. the over 50s and anyone eligible for a flu jab) and have clinics planned over the next four weekends based at Cadbury Heath Health Centre. These clinics, however, will be the last we are able to offer.

Patients who are not in cohorts 1-9 can arrange a vaccine by calling 119 or going online

There are a number of local pharmacies who are also offering the service as well as the mass vaccination centres at UWE and Bath Racecourse.

You can also go to the Grabajab website and see what walk-in options are available in the area.

To date, as a network, we have delivered 54,976 vaccines. A phenomenal achievement!

Our team members have worked above and beyond to deliver this service to help protect our patients. We have had countless volunteers also give up their free time to help us.

We have alongside this campaign also continued to deliver care to all our patients and we thank everyone for working so tirelessly throughout a very difficult time.

Our most vulnerable patients have received their initial vaccinations and boosters (or will have done by the middle of December) and we have vaccinated all patients registered with us who are in care homes or those that are housebound.

We are very proud to have been a part of the vaccination programme and thank our patients who have supported us throughout.
