Dr Stranks studied medicine at King’s College University London, graduating in 2009.  She was sponsored by the Royal Air Force throughout her degree and made the transition to civilian practice in 2012.  She completed her General Practice training in 2015 in South Somerset.  During this time she was awarded the Severn Deanery Substance Misuse Scholarship and it was through this she developed her passion for providing care for those with issues with drug and alcohol addiction

Dr Stranks began working for Hanham Health in 2016 as she was drawn to the opportunity to work in the prison environment where she could help to develop service delivery in the area of substance misuse.  Dr Stranks also enjoys teaching and delivers the Royal College of General Practitioners Substance Misuse Training Programme.  She became a GP Partner in 2019

Outside of work she enjoys to keep fit through a wide variety of sports including cycling, running and swimming and her biggest achievement to date is completing her first Half Ironman race.
